Using expressive therapies allows for a gentle process of self-discovery giving you greater self-awareness and carity. This holistic way of working involves more than ‘just talking about the problem.’ We encourage you to actively engage in your therapeutic process which supports the healing of traumas from the past, clarification of current issues, and/or identification of future directions.
You will work through words, drawing, images, symbols, sand and paper. During your session your work becomes potent and the primary therapeutic relationship shifts to being between you and your work. Representing an issue symbolically allows you to project feelings, gain visual clarity and discuss issues in depth. This work is an invitational, self-discovery approach, encouraging insights and change from within.
You will find that once you become less emotionally charged, you will be able to develop healthy life skills for living and have more effective interactions.
